THE MARK KALMANOWITZ FRIDAY NIGHT LEARNING PROGRAM continues this week with a dvar torah by XXX. The learning will take place after Maariv in the Schneider Beit Medrash.

STOP THE BLEED TRAINING: We are pleased to offer Stop the Bleed Training led by the Nassau County EMS Department. Training will be offered on February 9th from 10-11 am at Shul. HASHKAMA MINYAN KIDDUSH: There will be a Hashkama Minyan Kiddush this Shabbat.

CARLEBACH MINYAN: Join us for our Monthly Carlebach Friday Night Davening season (in addition to the regular Friday night minyan which will take place in the Schneider Beit Medrash). The schedule is as follows: January 31, 2020, February 21, 2020, March 6, 2020. Join us for an evening of uplifting niggunim and dancing with inspiring chassidut and dveykut. LOST & FOUND: There are many coats and jackets that have been left in the Shul. We have consolidated them in the Sprague Avenue coat room. Please check to see if any belong to you. Unclaimed items will be donated on January 31, 2020.

SHABBAT MORNING YOUTH GROUPS: Early groups are cancelled this Shabbat. ECDP WOMEN'S BOOK CLUB: The next book club featuring “The Orphan Keeper” by Camron Wright, will be meeting Monday, February 3, 2020 at 8:30 pm at the home of Leah Fish, 632 Jefferson Street. The books will be available at the West Hempstead library under Nancy’s book club.

SAFETY & SECURITY OF OUR CHILDREN: It is very important that if your children are in groups, that you are present at the Shul. Should, chas v’shalom, something happen with your child, the leaders need to be able to find you quickly. Please also note that group supervision ends when davening ends in the Main Shul. Please find your children immediately after davening. Thank you for your cooperation.

SECURITY: For security and safety purposes the Shul has one main entrance located at 661 Dogwood Avenue. While you can enter and exit from the Sprague side of the Shul, at no time can any of the emergency exits be used as a means of egress or entering the Shul. Doors cannot be propped open. This poses a security risk. We ask that you be considerate and that you close any doors that you notice are propped open. We thank you for your attention to this matter, and ask that you let a shul officer know if you notice a door propped open.
The Shul has arranged for armed security on Shabbat & Yom Tov mornings. The guards are all either off-duty or retired law enforcement. Please do not distract them as they are here to focus on our safety.


WALKWAY BETWEEN SCHNEIDER BEIT MEDRASH & MAIN SANCTUARY: Please do not stand in the walkway in the main sanctuary between the Scheider Beit Medrash and the women’s section. It is very difficult for people trying to get Sedurim/Chumashim from the shelves or walking to the women’s section when people are congregating between the mechitzas and the walls. We respectfully ask that the space be left clear.

REFLECTIVE SAFETY BELTS: The Orthodox Union has provided reflective safety belts to shuls at no cost. ECDP has been able to obtain these belts for members to borrow, as needed, for example, when walking home from Shul on Motzei Shabbat. They will be located in a bin in the closet on the Sprague side entrance. We ask that you please return them at your earliest convenience so that the next member in need can make use of them. NEW MANC HOURS: Effective Sunday night, November 3, 2019, the Mikvah weekend hours are: Sunday: 5:30 pm–10:30 pm, Saturday night: 6 pm–10:30 pm **, Motzei Shabbat & Sunday: a community member is on duty till 7:30. At 7:30 pm our regular attendant will come on duty. **Check the MANC message for any changes in the time. Effective Monday, November 4, 2019, the Mikvah will be open Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday nights, 5:30 pm–10:30 pm.

MANC - KEILIM MIKVAH: Keilim mikvah hours are 9 am - 5 pm.

SHUL REMINDERS: Please do not bring any Strollers into the Shul. Strollers must remain outside all buildings. Please do not bring food into the new sanctuary. Please remember to make sure the lights are off and the doors are locked when you are the last or next to last person to leave the Shul. Thank you for your cooperation.

MEMO FROM THE WELCOMING COMMITTEE: The Welcoming Committee welcomes new families to West Hempstead. Additionally, they arrange a Friday night dinner to be delivered to new families for their first Shabbat. We are looking for more volunteers that would be interested in offering to bring Shabbat food for a new family when they move in.
