ECDP Annual Dinner - March 15, 2026

Honoring

Judi & Alan Eisenman

Guests of Honor

Honoring

Ellen & Larry Barth

Hakarat Hatov Award

Judi and Alan moved to West Hempstead in 1986, and have been strong supporters of West Hempstead institutions including the Young Israel, HANC, and ECDP.

Judi was born in the Eastern Parkway section of Brooklyn to Frances and Moshe Flescher. Her parents were Holocaust survivors whose families were ravaged by the Nazis. Judi’s mother and grandmother survived the war along with some family members in Romania, and her father survived with five of his siblings living in the forests of Poland for two years. Frances and Moshe met in Israel and moved to the US where they raised their two daughters Toby and Judi. Judi’s father passed away suddenly when Judi was 15.

Judi graduated from Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing and was a practicing RN for many years. She spent most of those years as an ICU and later a CCU nurse.

Judi’s experience as the child of survivors along with her caring nature informed the choices she made about where to apply her skills. Judi volunteered at the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County where she worked in the museum’s library. There, she encouraged visitors to read about the Holocaust and helped school-age children with school reports and papers about the Holocaust. Judi was also a part of the YIWH Chevra Kadisha for many years where she ensured that people were buried with proper respect and dignity.

Alan was born and raised in Monsey. His grandparents and parents were founders of the Monsey community and they instilled in him the importance of communal activism. Alan graduated from City College with honors and worked in his family’s business for 20 years. He then joined Sanford C. Bernstein where he has spent nearly the last 30 years working in Asset Management.

Alan has been active at ECDP since its inception, and has been especially involved in the Hashkama minyan. He has also been engaged in fundraising for ECDP.

Alan served as President of the YIWH and was on the HANC board. He also served as the Chaiman of the Gesher Foundation, is currently the Chairman of the Maks Rothstein Foundation, and is active at NORPAC and Palestinian Media Watch.

Judi and Alan are blessed by Hashem with three children. Jason, married to Ariana who live in Teaneck with their three children, Kara, married to Avram, who  live in Teaneck with their four children, and Elizabeth, married to Marc, who live in West Hempstead with their three children. They are the nachat of the Eisenman family.

We are grateful for all that Judi and Alan do for ECDP and the greater Jewish community and are proud to recognize them as this year’s Guests of Honor.

Ellen and Larry both grew up in New Hyde Park, where they were raised in homes that instilled the importance of community involvement, responsibility, and commitment to Jewish life. They learned from their parents that active participation in one’s shul and community is a foundational value.

Ellen and Larry continued living in New Hyde Park after they were married. Ellen was involved in chesed and leadership at the Young Israel of New Hyde Park. Ellen ran the Mishloach Manot fundraiser, organized Friday night community dinners, and served on both the Board and Executive Committee of the Young Israel. She was involved in the sisterhood, Bikur Cholim, and served on the Mikveh Committee helping ensure its daily operation. Ellen and Larry regularly opened their home—almost weekly—to host guests for Shabbos, creating a warm and welcoming environment for all.

Together, Ellen and Larry were involved in the founding of Yeshiva Har Torah, where Larry served on the Board, demonstrating their shared dedication to Jewish education and the future of Klal Yisrael. Ellen has had a long-standing relationship with Yeshiva Har Torah. Initially, Ellen was involved with various PTA committees and school initiatives. For the past 14 years, she has served as the Executive Administrative Assistant at Yeshiva Har Torah, reflecting her continued dedication to the school and its mission. All of Ellen and Larry’s children are proud graduates of Yeshiva Har Torah, a source of great personal meaning and gratitude for their family.

Larry served the New Hyde Park community in numerous leadership roles. He was both president and gabbai of the Young Israel of New Hyde Park. He also chaired the committee responsible for building the New Hyde Park Mikveh, which is an invaluable asset for the community. Two years ago, Larry performed an extraordinary act of chesed as an altruistic kidney donor, reflecting his deep commitment to pikuach nefesh and helping others. For the past two years, he has volunteered for Renewal where he supports and guides other kidney donors through the donation process. Professionally, Larry runs a wealth management and planning practice serving businesses and individuals, where he advises clients with care, integrity, and responsibility.

When Ellen and Larry moved to West Hempstead 6 years ago, they immediately joined Eitz Chayim and became actively involved in the shul community. Ellen serves on the Chesed Committee and Dinner Committee. Larry is one of the Gabbaim, a member of the Executive Board, and has served as president of the shul.

Their greatest bracha is their children — Aron and Yehudis, Jordan and Faigy, and Jeremy and Elana — and their grandchildren, who are a constant source of pride, joy, and nachas.

We are thankful for all that Ellen and Larry do for Eitz Chayim and are proud to honor them with the Hakarat Hatov Award.
